The Aron Akye of Ugah, Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji have been kidnapped by gunmen according to a source. The traditional ruler of Ugah in Lafia Local Government of Nasarawa State was kidnapped after gunmen stormed the palace brandishing AK-47 rifles and shooting gunshots in the air.
The incident, which was said to have happened on Thursday evening by a source, was carried out swiftly as the second-class traditional ruler was abducted by the gunmen, who used motorcycles to flee.
According to a family source, the family members have been contacted by the gunmen on Saturday morning, and they were instructed to pay the ransom of #50 million to free the traditional ruler. Also, the chief was allowed to speak with his family members as at that time.
It was gathered that the phone that was used to contact the family members was the phone of the Chief's son that was taken by the gunmen during the process of abduction.
When contacted on the incident, the spokesman of the Police in Nasarawa, ASP Ramhan Nansel said, "the chief was kidnapped in the night, we are using our intelligence in trying to locate and secure the release of the monarch. But we are not aware whether ransom was demanded from the family."
