We are pleased to announce the creation of the West Africa Youth International Hounour, called “West Africa Youth Legion of Honor”, designed to recognize outstanding individuals who have made positive contributions to the development of West Africa especially relating to youth inclusiveness in leadership, gender balance, and political participation. The maiden edition is focused on Women in commemoration of International Women’s Day with the theme; Engaging Women for Global Action. Recall that the United Nations have set aside every 8th of March as International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate women globally. The annual event often has its theme is drawn from gender equality, opportunity gap, and other gender-related matters tailored to a cause. The theme for this year’s event is  #ChoseToChallenge. 


In line with the United Nation’s theme for the 2021 International Women’s Day, we deem it necessary to decorate 10 selected Influential women in West Africa. 5 Women will be decorated with the “Order of West Africa Legion of Honor (OWYL)” while the other 5 will be Inducted into the West Africa Youth Legion Hall of Fame, decorated with “West Africa Youth Honour (WYH)”. The Nominees for the event consist of First Ladies of Nations, Women in Corporate Leadership,  Advocacy, Activism, and women pushing other gender-related causes across West Africa.

The event will adhere to #COVID19 principles with high restrictions, we urge the general public to participate via online live stream links that will be provided. The event is strictly by invitation. All nominees are considered Special Guests at the event and will be allowed entry to the Event Hall.
