It’s that time of the year again; the papyrus Magazine is hosting State House of Assembly Members who, with their sterling records, have distinguished themselves amongst their colleagues. Papyrus Magazine recognises that all Honourables are saddled with the same responsibility but that some have gone a step further to provide dividends of democracy to their various constituencies.
They will be duly celebrated at the 2nd edition of the Papyrus Magazine State House of Assembly Awards (PAMSHAA) 2020.

The publisher and project initiator, Hon. Chief Doofan Damsa says there are four categories of the award which includes: The Best Performing Member in Constituency Outreach/Projects, The Best Performing Member with the Most Impactful Private Member Bills, the Most Vocal Member on the Floor of the House and the Most Loved Member of the House respectively.

Giving an insight into the modalities for selection and determination of winners, Hon. Doofan Damsa Says for the Best in Private Member Bills, request had been made for the provision of the private member bills from the state houses while on tour of states for careful study. This is in order to know their current stage, how they stand to benefit the people of the state before the winner is decided.

For the Best in Constituency Outreach, members were asked to submit their project lists and pictures after which the designated teams go around to verify the submitted materials in order to be sure of their thorough execution by the said members. At the perfection of the comparison, the winners are decided while the most loved and vocal are voted by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria and the press corps of the state assembly of the federation.

The Publisher says the winners for the year will be unveiled in the coming week according to their states; at the event, the papyrus will honour the best in the zone and nation while also exploring the same selection procedure at the level of the states. The publisher also uses the avenue to thank the state speakers, their teams as well as clerks who received her while on the tour of states for performance evaluation.

In her own words, she said: "on behalf of the editorial team of the papyrus Magazine under our able Managing Editor, Pastor Justin Gusha, myself, and the entire staff of the Papyrus Magazine, I’d like to thank the Speaker of Abia State, Rt. The publisher stressed that the journey was on the road to help her and her team easily connect one state from the other and makes moving around the state easier. Though it was stressful because of the bad state of roads but she still expressed her gratitude to God that he graciously preserved them from being victims of the insecurity, accidents rife in Nigeria. She said it took them three months to cover 32 states excluding Nasarawa, kaduna, Yobe and Borno states. However, she prays that these states are included next time. The publisher expressed her gratitude to the National Union Of Journalists nationwide for their help throughout the journey.
