The Chairman of the Management Committee of Labour Party in Imo, Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie has made public guidelines for the election of party delegates for the Guber primaries slated to take place on the 15th of April, 2023.

Prof Awuzie announced this during a media interaction with pressmen yesterday after a meeting with members of the management committee at the state secretariat of the party.

Prominent item in the guidelines stipulates the use of three key members of the party to conduct the Congress for transparency and rancour free exercise: 'The Ward Secretary, Ward woman leader and one member of the obedient support groups will form the electoral team to conduct the delegate election in each ward'.

Responding to journalists, who wanted to know how the party can determine true delegates, considering plethora of lists flying around the State, the academic giant and consummate technocrat, Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie asserted: 'delegates are members of our party, who will emerge after our Congress, which is carefully designed to be highly democratic '.

Speaking on the process that will guarantee transparency and reliable democratic practices during the Congress and gubermatorial primary, Prof Awuzie said his committee has succeeded in ensuring that no LGA chairman would oversea the Congress election in his local government as they have all been transferred to different LGAs.
