Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, one of the candidates contesting for the position of Speaker of House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has visited Abia governor-elect, Alex Otti.

Abbas, who was recently endorsed for the Speakership position by President-elect, Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was joined by another annointed candidate for Deputy Speaker seat, Benjamin Kalu, and some other House of Representatives members-elect.

Kalu made this known in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle on Saturday, saying that the team assured the Abia Governor-elect of their readiness to work with Labour Party members when elected into the leadership positions.

He said : “As engagement continues, It was a pleasure to visit with the Governor-elect of my state, Dr. Alex Otti who warmly received the Joint Task Group in Abuja.

” Thankful for the encouragement and support. The 10th House under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas @HonTJAbbas will work with members of the Labour Party to achieve an inclusive parliament.”

PlatinumPost reports that Otti is the only governor elected under the platform of the Labour Party in the last general election.

Labour Party has the third highest number of members-elect of the House. The party has 36 seats, trailing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which have 177 and 116 respectively.
