The chairman of Lumen Media LTD and Victoria for Victory Foundation VVF, Hon. Victor Ngumah has congratulated a member of the Ghanaian parliament, Hon. Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku on her emergence as the African Iconic Female Parliamentarian Of the Year.
Hon. Ngumah said the prestigious award is a testament of her legislative prowess and effective representation of her people of the Domeabra-Obom Constituency in the seventh parliament.
In a congratulatory message on Saturday, Hon. Ngumah said Hon. Ackuaku is a perfect demonstration outstanding leadership qualities African women wield, not only in the political environment but in business, commerce, entertainment and others.
He said, "I congratulate Hon. Sophia Karen Ackuaku on this prestigious award of African Iconic Female Parliamentarian Of the Year.
"This goes to show that her modest commitment towards raising the bar of democratic culture in Ghana and Africa as a whole is being noticed and recognized.
"She represents that generation of African women who have surmounted obstacles to get to the top and giving her best in offering her people effective leadership", he said.
African Iconic Women Recognition Awards (AIWRA) 2023 organised by Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN) is designed to recognise outstanding women for their contributions in peace building and national development.
Winners were nominated and voted for in an online electioneering exercise which lasted for over a month.
At the award ceremony on June 1 in Abuja, former First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari along with daughter of the President, Folashade Tinubu and Jowel Taylor were also awarded.
The Project Director of FDN, Alexander Ajagbonna, better known as Fajag commended awardees for and urged them to continue to stand out in their endeavours, saying they are being watched.
