As Muslim ummah mark this year's Eid-el-Kabir, the founder of HalimaFactor Community Initiative, Halima Usman has given the residents of Kumo in Akko local government area of Gombe state, reasons to smile this festive period.

This she said is in memory of her father, Mal. Mohammed Danzaria Kumo who made it a point of duty to provide support to less privileged families, especially during festive periods while he was alive.

At an outreach on Tuesday in Kumo community, Usman led a team of staff and volunteers from her Initiative to distribute food items and other relief items to give residents a memorable Sallah celebration.

The outreach sought to sustain the legacies of love and kindness for members of his community and beyond of the late Mal. Danzaria, a virtual visibly taken by his children.

A devout Muslim and a farmer, Mal. Danzaria died in Kumo community in 2005.

Symbolically, the distribution of the items took place in the actual home where Mal. Danzaria lived and peacefully joined his ancestors nearly two decades ago.

It was also a place where residents usually gathered with the hope of smiling home with something for their families.

Overwhelmed by emotion, Halima who managed to speak few words said the outreach seeks to honour her father who would have done the same thing or even better if he was alive.

She said the day reminds her of many virtues her late father stood for.

"My father Mal. Mohammed Danzaria Kumo, was the first Principal of Social Development Institute ( SDI) in Kumo. He stood for selflessness, peace and genuine love.

"He was kind to a fault, to the extent that most times, we will have nothing left in the barn months to the next harvest season because he has given all to those in need. He never kept anything behind.

"That is the memory I chose to relive this Eid-el-Kabir season 18 year after his death, knowing that he would have done a similar thing, or even much more if he was to be alive.

"He lived an exemplary life not just in the area of demonstrating empathy for the vulnerable and less privileged which is a campaign my NGO, HalimaFactor Community Initiative has been championing for over a decade now and also in accommodating other people's culture and religion", she stated.

The HalimaFactor Community Initiative founder while noting that economic pressure on many families across the country has been exacerbated by the recent removal of subsidy on petrol urged the government to put in place palliative measures that would give the people a dignified living.

Beneficiaries who could not hide their joy prayed for God's providence and protection upon the Initiative, its managers and the entire family of late Mal. Danzaria.
