Manchester United are reportedly planning to submit a new offer for Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
On Wednesday, the Blues rejected United’s second offer for the midfielder. According to ESPN, the Red Devils hoped to prize away the England international for around £50m with add-ons. But Chelsea are reportedly demanding a £60-65m fee.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Red Devils will “100%” make another bid for Mount. According to the Sky Sports journalist, Man Utd want a quick resolution to Mount’s situation but won’t increase their offer significantly.
The Red Devils are confident in their negotiations with Chelsea as Mount won’t sign a new deal at the club. The England international’s current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire in 2024.
Mount has emerged as Man Utd’s No.1 target since the start of the current transfer window. Erik ten Hag is keen to bolster his side’s midfield, hoping to take some burden off Christian Eriksen, who played more than 40 games last season.
The Red Devils are in pole position to sign Mount as both Arsenal and Bayern Munich have shifted their attention toward other players.
United’s third bid, however, could be their last attempt to bring Mount to Old Trafford. Widespread reports in English media claim the Red Devils are reluctant to stretch their offer to £70m.
