Vice President Kashim Shettima was among the dignitaries that witnessed the burial of the immediate past Secretary to the Borno State Government, Usman Shuwa.
Abujapress reports that Shuwa died on Saturday at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.
Shettima, in a post on social media page on Sunday, described the deceased as a great man that would be difficult to replace.
He said : “Today in Maiduguri, I attended the funeral of Alhaji Usman Jidda Shuwa, immediate past Secretary to the Borno State Government.
” The deceased served under me between 2015 and 2019, and also served in same capacity under Governor Zulum’s administration from 2019 to 2023.
” We lost a colossus. He was the last of the titans and an icon with a huge institutional memory of how the system works. We are surely going to miss his wise counsel and intellect. No one is indispensable in life, but he was almost irreplaceable.
” May Allah’s mercy descend on his soul and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus.”
Abujapress reports that Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno, Governor Mai Buni of Yobe, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, were among the dignitaries at the funeral.
