A husband, Tukur Sale, and his younger brother, Ibrahim Sale, have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates Court I in Yola, for allegedly beating a man to death over suspicion of having an amorous affair with his wife.
According to Sahara Reporters, the two brothers who hail from Ngurore -Chigari village in the Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, allegedly beat Usman Sale to death with cutlasses and sticks after he was reportedly caught in a compromising position with Tukur’s wife.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Zakka Musa, informed the court that the defendants attacked the deceased with cutlasses and sticks on June 30, 2023, which led to his demise.
According to him, the victim was rushed to Cottage Hospital in Fufore town where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. He said the offence is contrary to sections 60 and 141 of the penal code law.
Tukur however blamed his action on provocation.
“I had warned him on several occasions to stop going out with my wife, but he refused,” Tukur said.
“I trailed him after sighting him with my wife. He was the first to actually hit me with a stick. My younger brother Ibrahim came to rescue me,” he added.
Magistrate Alheri Ishaku remanded the duo and adjourned the case to July 27, 2023, after the defendants admitted to having committed the crime.
