Ahead of Imo governorship election, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Uche Nwosu, has thrown his weight behind the second term ambition of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja , Nwosu, who is a political ally former governor Rochas Okorocha, maintained that his support for Uzodinma was in tandem with the dictates of the party.

Nwosu who paid a solidarity visit to the newly installed national chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje at the party national secretariat in Abuja, also ruled out the possibility of him aspiring for the governorship of Imo state for now.

“I am a committed member of the party in Imo state and would always work for the progress of the party,” he said.

“I am not running for the seat for now. Hope Uzodinma is the candidate of the party. We can’t have two candidates of APC in Imo state.”

Nwosu who aspired for the governorship of Imo state on the platform of the opposition Action Alliance (AA) expressed optimism that Ganduje would reposition the party.

On the Coup in neighbouring Niger republic, he said the act is not only a condemnable act but unacceptable as it would negatively affect the socioeconomic development of the country.

Nevertheless, he said the coup in Niger serves as a wake up call on those entrusted with the leadership of the entire countries in Africa to ensure good governance in their respective domains.

Nwosu called on Nigerians at the receiving end of the hardship they are faced with due to the removal of fuel subsidy to be patient with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration for at least a year before rushing to judgement on his performance.
