The newly elected President of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Dr. Ike Neliaku has served a "quit now" notice to all quacks in the industry, warning that their time is over.

Dr. Neliaku who was elected at the Institute's elective convention/AGM in Abuja on an election that lasted till late Thursday night last week said under his watch, there shall be no rooms for those who drag the industry to disrepute with their quackery activities.

Speaking at the official handover ceremony on Friday, Dr. Neliaku, an immediate past Member of Council of the Institute urged that those who wish to practice Public Relations should take advantage of the liberalized membership registration process and become part of the solutions NIPR offers and not the problem.

"Quackery in our profession will no longer exist. The time is over. We are taking our profession back. It is goodbye to quacks.

"We are going to pursue them, we are going to fight them, we are going to do everything possible to ensure that our breakfast is not eaten by those who know when we cast the net.

"So we must take this issue with all seriousness, this industry has to be sanitized. If you know you are practicing as a PR expert, practitioner, whatever it is, whether you call yourself a corporate affairs person, public affairs this and so on, it is all under public relations.

"That is the law we have and we are going to implement this law to the later, with the support of the federal government that gave us this law, this is part of our contribution to nation-building. So it's goodbye to quackery.

"Those who have existed in the fringes are now given opportunity to come to the centre and become part and parcel of this beautiful profession. But if they decide to remain where they are and think they can practice, it's no longer going to happen", he stated.

Dr. Neliaku expressed gratitude to his colleagues for massively voting for him to preside over the activities of the Institute for the next two years, saying he and the newly elected council members have no reason to fail.

He applauded the immediate past President of the Institute, Malam Muktar Zubairu Sirajo for providing leadership leadership, especially by identifying and allowing ideas that will work to thrive.

In his remarks, Malam Sirajo expressed gratitude on the outcome of the 2023 elective conference of the Institute and the quality of leadership that would take over from him.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of Dr. Neliaku and members of council to carry on with the activities of NIPR and even outshine the past administrations.

Earlier at NAF Conference Centre Abuja, eminently qualified members of NIPR were inducted as fellows of the Institute, which is the highest membership category.

Senator representing Imo West, Sen. Osita Izunaso, a former vice chairman of NIPR FCT chapter, Mr. Stanley Azuka Ogadigo were among those inducted as fellows.

The conference also featured the induction of new members.
