An indefinite strike has been announced by the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC and Nigeria’s Trade Union Confederation TUC from 3 October.

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, and the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osifo, at a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, September 26, called on Nigerians to stockpile foodstuffs in view of the strike that would shut down economic activities in the country.

The indefinite strike was due, according to the statement from both Presidents, to government’s alleged insensitivity with regard to Nigeria’s plight as a result of removal of petrol subsidy and continued demonstration of lack of initiative towards delivering palliative care.
