Comrade Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi state, has given his approval for the adoption of the law raising the retirement age for teachers from 60 to 65 years of age.

This information was revealed at a news briefing shortly after the Weekly State Executive Council Meeting by the Commissioner for Basic Education, Hajiya Halima Mohammed Bande.

According to the Commissioner, this gave teachers who had been in the profession for 35 years the chance to continue working for 40 years before retiring.

She promised that the Ministry of Justice will get the required paperwork to create a bill, which would then be submitted to the State House of Assembly for passage into law.

The Commissioner stated that the Governor would unquestionably sign the bill into law after it had become a law in order to raise the morale of educators throughout the State.
