It was a night of glitz and glamour as prominent Nigerians stepped out in colourful attires at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton to be recognised for their outstanding contributions towards sustenance of democracy. 


Top among the awardees at the 2023 edition of Democracy Hero's Award Africa organised by Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN) include, Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda, First Lady of Edo State, Betsy Obaseki, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Yayi and others.


The award on Saturday, October 18, 2023 which has as the theme, "The Power Of Togetherness"saw winners emerge through keenly contested online electioneering process. 


Speaking at the event, the Project Director FDN, Olufunsho Ajagbonna aka Fajag noted that the exercise is designed to celebrate the heroes and democracy as he stated that some individuals who have made immense contributions towards building Nigeria's democracy have not been adequately recognised. 

According to him, it was equally open to Humanitarians, entrepreneurs, business and political leaders whose contributions have helped in entrenching stability through job creation, youth empowerment and poverty alleviation measures. 


Some of the awardees include Hon Ahmed Munir, Hon Bello EL-RUFAI, Hon Abdullahi Aliyu Armed, Permanent Secretary Ministry Agric Ernest Omakihe, African Business woman Fifi Ejindu, Makinde Araoye, Dr. Ladislas Prosper Agbesi, Hon Usman Muheeden BAMIDELE OLOUNWA, Engr Bala Mohammed Chairman Barms & City, Baffi Furnitures.


The well-attended event witnessed array of entertainments, ranging from dance troupes, comedians, music artistes, all targeted at giving the awardees and their invited guests a spicy night. 


Apart from the topnotch co-ordination, the stage decoration was superb as the beautifully dressed guests networked, building new friendship and possible associates. 


Presence of politically exposed persons, elite, and top businessmen was not in short supply with a heavy presence of security to ensure the safety of everyone. 


The red carpet was one of the most colourful anywhere, as the hostesses put in a beautiful outlook. 


High presence of media organization was also felt, to give it the needed publicity it deserves. 


The highly satisfied award recipients were in unison to express gratitude to FDN for recognising their contributions towards nation building and assured that they would continue to give their utmost best in building a Nigeria of the dream of our founding fathers.
