"There are about 6,355 individuals worth more than $5 million each , this represents 0.003 per cent of the entire population in Nigeria. “A wealth tax of two per cent on this millionaires, three per cent each on rich and wealthy individuals with wealth above $50m and five per cent on the Nigerian billionaires would raise $3.2bn annually" Hon. Blessing Oyefeso the Convener of the Nigeria Stakeholders Conversation quoted Oxfam Nigeria report  during the national dialogue on 17th Tuesday to commemorate united nation International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in Nigeria.  


Hon Blessing Oyefeso further reiterated that "a social impact humanitarian tax of up to 5% of the net profit and wealth of Nigeria's multi millionaires and billionaires could FastTrack sustainable development goal 1 of ending poverty by 2030 in

Nigeria, if the rich and wealthy Nigeria's are consciencized and determined to partner in the fight against Poverty Eradication, 70 million Nigerians could be pulled out of Poverty in 7 years from now". 

Public private partnership is the only way out of wining the fight against Poverty, and until the members of the private sectors join hands with the government,  international partners working at the forefront of Poverty Eradication,  we are not goin to achieve greater good for Humanity as far as Poverty Eradication is concern. 


The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, states that the federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, is dedicated to reducing poverty to the lowest possible levels. 


Edu, who spoke at the Nigeria Stakeholders Conversation 0.2 with the theme “Poverty Eradication Pathway – Roadmap to SDG 2030,” organized by a renowned civil society organization “Nigeria Youths In Politics”, which was held at IBB Golf Course, FCT, Abuja. 

Edu, represented by Mr Joseph Dzunuwe, said it is the firm commitment of the present administration to ensure that these programs contribute significantly to poverty reduction, fulfilling the promise made during our campaign to lift poor and vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty. 


The highpoint of this national dialogue is to raise our voices as members of the Civil society organization to advocate for Multi-Stakeholders partnership between captains of industries, the rich and wealthy Nigerians as critical partners in the fight against Poverty Eradication- blessing Oyefeso. 


Stakeholders at the event stressed the need for more policies to address the multi dimensional poverty among over 130 million Nigerians in the area of job creation for the youth and women across the rural areas,  strengthen the Healthcare delivery scope so as to achive seamless delivery of primary Healthcare for all, collaborative partnership between government institutions, Civil Society organization and private sector.  

Other Speakers present at the event includes, representative of National Population Commission,  Dr. Tunji Asaolu, the deputy Secretary General of International Society of Diplomat, Dr. Hephzibah Suobo,  Ambassador of Africa Union Agenda 2063, Amb. Tokunbo Oyemade,  Dr Ogenna Walter, president Motivating Africa Youth Initiative, Hon. Miss Powers Emmanuel,  Young Women and Girl Child Advocate and others . 


The conversation will produce a recommended resolution for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope Administration on poverty eradication.
