The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wellmann Group of Companies, Deacon Chris Iyowaye has been honoured with the award of Maritime Personality of the Year at the recently concluded Leadership Excellence (LEEX) Award organised by Igbere TV.
The award ceremony took place in Abuja where other eminent Nigerians were also honoured. The awardees emerged through a 7-Day nationwide online poll monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Though the recipient was unavoidably indisposed as he represented by Ejiro Ernest Ofoye Esq, who received the award on his behalf because he was out of the country for official engagements.
Iyowaye is a respected market leader in the continent of Africa in Modular Transportation that transported 3,800 tons Cargo for Chevron, the Largest single structure ever transported in Nigeria and the entire Gulf of Guinea.
This feat has made WELLMANN indispensable in the Chevron Meren Project and the Dangote Refinery Project.
The CEO is a recipient of several awards for his achievements and philanthropy, prominent of which is the distinguished Nigerian Society of Engineers, in Recognition of his sterling leadership, commitment and dedication to the development of Engineering in Nigeria and the Rotary International award In Recognition of his Contribution to the oil Service and Maritime industry.
In his response, he expressed gratitude to the LEEX award organisers for finding him worthy of the award, giving glory to God.
He said, Yesternight (Saturday) I bagged a Leadership Excellence Award as "Maritime Personality of the Year", for my contribution to the Maritime sector in an event which held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja.

LEEX Awards was proudly endorsed in 2020 by the African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC) and in 2021 by the African Union African Film Institute (AU-AFI), the organisers said.
The Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, venue of the event was full to brim as top political office holders, business executives and entertainment icons trooped out in their large numbers to receive their awards.
