Governor Siminalayi Fubara has obtained an order from Rivers High Court in Isiokpo Division in Ikwerre Local Government Area, stopping Rivers House of Assembly and its Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, from impeaching him.

The order was obtained following an ex parte application he filed on Wednesday, November 1, through his attorney, Damian Okoro (SAN).

Deputy Speaker, Dumle Maol, the Clerk of the House and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi have reportedly been served the restraining order.

Justice Ben Whyte ordered parties involved in the case to maintain the status quo while the move on notice was decided. The motion on notice was then postponed until November 14, 2023.
