On Monday, the Borno State Police Command stated it successfully defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the gate to the University of Maiduguri.
In an interview with Newsmen on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the Borno Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the event.
Daso stated that about 9.00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, a suspicious device was discovered near the institution’s main gate.
According to him, the command quickly sent soldiers from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team to the location, who confirmed that the item was a constructed Improvised Explosive item (IED).
“In swift response, the Command’s Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) swung into action and successful diffused the IED, without loss of lives or property,” he said.
Daso said that the command also sanitized the general area to ensure it was safe.
