A recent intelligence report from the Nigeria Police Force has exposed a nefarious plot by kidnappers targeting communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The report, obtained by SaharaReporters from a military source linked to the intelligence unit, disclosed that a phone call between kidnappers in Karu, near Abuja, and Kabusa in the FCT outlined plans for a looming operation, scheduled to transpire on either Tuesday or January 17, 2024.
Titled, “Plan by Armed Bandits to Attack Yet-to-be-Identified Location Around the FCT, Abuja,” the report detailed a conversation between a suspected kidnapper and an alleged informant. The exchange revealed chilling details about their intentions, as the suspected kidnapper sought information about the target house.
As the conversation unfolded, it became apparent that the kidnappers had recently attacked an undisclosed area around the FCT and were gearing up for another operation. The informant, inquiring about the targeted house, received confirmation that additional gang members were set to join the operation, scheduled for today, January 16, or tomorrow, January 17, 2024.
The report highlighted the escalating threat posed by kidnapping syndicates infiltrating Abuja, driven by the lure of substantial proceeds. It emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive action to curb the rising menace in the FCT suburbs.
The report concluded with recommendations, urging the FCT Police Command and tactical teams to collaborate in forming a dedicated unit to counter the armed bandits. Additionally, the report proposed close coordination with the intelligence unit for analyzing the suspected informant’s contact number, potentially leading to arrests.
In response to this alarming revelation, heightened vigilance and swift action are crucial to protect Abuja residents from the looming threat of further kidnappings.
