Who is who in Igbo land are beginning to arrive Osisioma Aba, venue of the formal inauguration of the 188 megawatts Geometric Power Plant Aba, Abia State.
While the arrival of the Vice President Kashim Shettima; and Governor Alex Otti, was being expected as at the time of filing this report, some notable dignitaries from the South East geopolitical zone were spotted by our Correspondent at the venue.
Some of the dignitaries include the Obi of Onitsha, HRM Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe; the Chairman Abia Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Linus Nto; and the wife of the late Biafra warlord, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu.
Spotted also were the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador Okey Emuchay; Chief Executive Officer, Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma; and the son of former Head of State, Sheyi Obasanjo.
Former Minister for Power Professor Bath Nnaji built the$800 power plant expected to solve the perennial power equation in the Enyimba City and the entire Abia State.
Aba is said to consume only about N100 megawatts of power while the balance of 88 megawatts will be exported to the national grid, according to the management of the Power giant.
Geometric Power is arguably the largest single investment in the South East.
The coming on stream of the project after about nine years it was built will definitely mark the beginning of the economic transformation of South East.
The delay was sequel to the initial face-off between Geometric Power Plant and Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, which was recently resolved out of court.
