Elon Musk, the owner of micro-blogging site, X has mocked Meta over the global downtime experienced by Facebook, Instagram, and Thread.
Abujapress reported that Facebook, Instagram, and Threads experienced a global glitch on Tuesday.
Reacting, Meta spokesman, Andy Stone, said the company was looking into the glitch that led to users being logged out of their platforms globally.
Posting on X, Stone wrote: “We’re working on it.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”
According to the DownDetector website, reports that Facebook was down peaked at around 500,000 at 10:30 am US east coast time (1530 GMT). Instagram peaked at about 70,000 reports at the same time.
Threads, the rival to Twitter that was launched in 2023, was also suffering reports of outages, though WhatsApp, Meta’s messaging service, seemed spared.
Reacting, Musk posted on X: “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working.”
