Lagos State Police Command has apprehended renowned musician Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, for failing to settle a debt incurred during the purchase of a G-Wagon from a local car dealer.
According to reports from PUNCH Online, Portable allegedly purchased the luxury vehicle valued at N27 million but only paid N13 million upfront, neglecting the remaining N14 million balance. Despite repeated requests from the car dealer to fulfill his payment obligations, Portable allegedly cited issues with the vehicle’s quality as a reason for withholding payment.
Subsequently, after exhausting all attempts to resolve the matter amicably, the car dealer reported the incident to the police. Law enforcement officers promptly intervened and apprehended Portable for further investigation.
Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, affirmed the situation, stating, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”
The incident sheds light on the importance of honoring financial commitments and resolving disputes through proper channels. As the case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the legal repercussions that may arise from failure to fulfill contractual obligations.
