Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has strongly addressed and dismissed recent rumors suggesting that she is involved in a romantic relationship with Matthew Ekeinde, the husband of veteran actress Omotola Jalade.

The speculation, which included claims that Ekeinde had purchased a luxury car for Etiko, has been making rounds on social media.

In a candid Instagram Live session, Etiko did not mince words, labeling the allegations as completely unfounded and a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation. She emphatically denied any romantic connection with Ekeinde, stressing that the rumors are baseless and part of a smear campaign against her.

“If you want to withhold the blessings of God in somebody else’s life and you want to grow, it is impossible,” Etiko said, addressing those behind the rumors. “People have always spoken ill about me. Do men give money? Even if they do, I don’t know. I worked for 99.9% of all I have.”

Etiko went on to explain that she regularly buys a new car on her birthdays because she enjoys changing her vehicle annually. She believes that this practice has fueled unfounded jealousy and bitterness among some individuals.

She also clarified the origins of the rumors, stating that they stem from a harmless selfie she took with Ekeinde over four years ago. “Some bitter people just sat down and brought up the pictures I took with Omotola’s husband when I was on a flight, and he was the pilot,” Etiko recounted. “He asked what was happening, and they told him I was an actress. I greeted him with the respect due to a senior colleague’s husband and asked for a selfie out of respect. That was it.”

With this firm response, Etiko aims to put an end to the speculation and continue focusing on her career without the distraction of baseless gossip.
