The federal government has announced an increase in passport fees, effective September 1, as part of efforts to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport.

This update was shared in a statement by Kenneth Udo, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), on Wednesday in Abuja.

Under the new fee structure, the cost for a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000. Similarly, the price for the 64-page passport booklet with a ten-year validity will increase from N70,000 to N100,000.

Notably, the statement indicated that passport fees for Nigerians living abroad will remain unchanged.

The NIS expressed regret over any inconvenience this fee increase may cause prospective applicants, reiterating its commitment to transparency and quality service delivery at all times.
