GTBank, one of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, has reassured its customers that their data remains secure despite an attempt to compromise the bank’s domain.
The bank’s website became inaccessible on Wednesday night, sparking concerns among customers about a potential hacking incident.
However, GTBank clarified in a statement on Thursday that the incident was not a case of website cloning but an isolated attempt to tamper with the domain.
The bank emphasized that customer data was never at risk, stating, “We do not store customer information on our website, and as such, there has been no compromise of customer data.”
GTBank further assured its customers and stakeholders that its website had not been cloned, and their information is safe.
“Our dedicated team of Information Security Experts is working around the clock to restore domain settings, and we assure our customers that our website will be up shortly,” the statement continued.
The bank urged customers to dismiss any misleading reports and reiterated its commitment to protecting customer data.
