Hackers have compromised the official Facebook page of the Kano State Hisbah Board, posting explicit photos and videos, causing public outrage.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, has drawn widespread condemnation, with many expressing concern over the situation.

Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Hisbah Board, confirmed the breach to journalists on Friday and stated that efforts are underway to address the issue.

“The Kano State Hisbah Board is aware of the hacking of its Facebook page, where inappropriate content is being shared. We urge the public to assist in resolving this problem,” Daurawa said.

He assured the public that the board’s ICT team is actively working to regain control of the page and is in discussions with Meta to resolve the situation.

Daurawa also urged the community to report the compromised page to Meta in English to help curb the spread of the explicit content.

The Head of the ICT department at the Hisbah Board, Sani Zailani, noted that the account has been targeted by hackers before and that Meta has been contacted regarding the current breach. Meta has reportedly assured the board that the issue will be resolved within 48 hours.

Zailani expressed gratitude for the public’s support and emphasized that efforts are ongoing to recover the page and restore normal operations.
