A 36-year-old Nigerian pilot, Olukayode Ojo, has been found guilty by a federal jury in the United States for falsifying information to obtain a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certificate.

The U.S. Attorney, Robert J. Troester, revealed that Ojo, who resides in Dallas, Texas, was convicted for securing a medical certificate required to operate a commercial passenger aircraft by providing false statements.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Transportation Security Administration, Ojo was indicted on June 4, 2024, on two counts of making false statements to federal authorities.

He was subsequently found guilty on both charges on August 16, 2024.

Reports indicate that following the jury’s verdict, U.S. District Judge Jodi Dishman ordered Ojo to be detained pending his sentencing. The Nigerian pilot could face up to five years in federal prison and fines reaching $250,000 per count.
