Afeez Adedigba, a taxi driver in Ibadan, Oyo State, recently gained widespread attention after a video of him driving a popular micra taxi while wearing his wife’s dress went viral.
Adedigba has now come forward to explain the reason behind his unusual attire, revealing that it was a practical solution to an unexpected situation.
In an interview with media personality Ayo Adams on Monday, Adedigba clarified that he wore his wife’s dress because his own clothes were drenched in the rain, leaving him with no other option if he wanted to continue working that day.
He explained that when he took the dress, he informed his wife of his intentions, and she gave her consent.
“This is not the only cloth of my wife that I have. They are about two. The first time I took the dress, it was raining heavily, and all my clothes were drenched. I had no choice but to take hers since I was still interested in working that day,” Adedigba shared.
Adedigba mentioned that he keeps the dress in his vehicle and wears it whenever it rains, switching back to his own clothes once the rain stops.
He emphasized that his focus is on earning money to provide for his family and meet his obligations to the owner of the vehicle.
Regarding reactions from passengers, Adedigba stated that he was unbothered by any comments, as his priority is to ensure he makes enough money to support his household. “It has been quite an age I’ve been driving this *micra*. And I only seek God’s favor on the job. I moved to driving when I couldn’t raise funds to start the sales of tyres that I learnt at a tender age,” he added.
Adedigba also addressed and dismissed rumors that he had been involved in a fight, leading to his clothes being torn, which supposedly forced him to wear his wife’s dress.
He clarified that the decision was purely out of necessity, not due to any altercation.
The dedicated driver, who has one wife and four children, spoke about his determination to work hard to meet the needs of his family, highlighting the lengths he is willing to go to ensure their well-being.
