Nigerian filmmaker, Seun Egbegbe, has opened up about his past, shedding light on aspects of his life before his imprisonment.

Egbegbe was detained on February 10, 2017, following allegations of defrauding around 40 Bureau De Change operators. He faced charges related to fraudulent activities involving $90,000, £12,550, and ₦39,098,100.

Although the court granted him bail set at ₦5 million, Egbegbe was unable to meet the conditions and remained in custody for nearly six years. He was eventually acquitted in 2022.

In a recent conversation with actress Biola Adebayo, Egbegbe reflected on his past behavior, admitting to engaging in a variety of questionable activities, though he emphasized that he had never taken a life.

Discussing his former lifestyle, Egbegbe revealed that his financial status allowed him to indulge in a hedonistic lifestyle, which included being with up to three different women in a single day. “I did all those things just to live large and make a name for myself,” he confessed. “There were times when I would be with one woman in the morning, another in the afternoon, and someone else by nightfall.”

Egbegbe attributed these choices to a desire to “live large” and impress others. “It was all about showing off and being the talk of the town,” he explained.

Reflecting on his time behind bars, Egbegbe expressed gratitude for the lessons he learned during his imprisonment. “I was away for almost six years, unable to have any intimate relationships, yet I survived. After my release, I’ve seen many women express interest in me online, despite my past,” he shared.

He acknowledged that his time in prison had a profound impact on him, saying, “I believe God used that time to teach me a valuable lesson. Despite not having sex for nearly six years, I didn’t die; nothing happened to me. I’m grateful for my life now.”

Egbegbe also recounted a near-death experience during his time in jail, further illustrating the challenges he faced during his incarceration.
