A campaign convoy linked to Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming Edo State governorship election, left five people dead in a horrific crash on Warrake Road, Owan East Local Government Area, on Thursday.
The convoy, according to a report by PUNCH, reportedly collided head-on with a Toyota Camry, instantly killing the driver, Emmanuel Edionwe, and four other passengers.

One other victim was critically injured and was rushed to Irrua Specialist Hospital. Witnesses at the scene claimed the convoy was speeding when one of its vehicles swerved and struck the oncoming Camry.

The tragic victims were reportedly returning from a funeral ceremony when they met their untimely end.

The lifeless bodies have been deposited at the Edo State University Uzaurie Mortuary in Etsako West Local Government Area.

A devastated relative of Emmanuel Edionwe, speaking anonymously, shared, “We are heartbroken. Emmanuel was such a good, easy-going boy. Now we hear that five of them are gone, with just one fighting for their life in the hospital.”

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) was quick to evacuate the bodies from the accident site. Despite initial efforts to reach the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer for confirmation, he failed to provide any comments as of the time of this report.
