As the September 21 governorship election in Edo State approaches, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo has revealed the conditions under which he would concede defeat.

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Ighodalo stated that he would only concede if he loses “fairly and squarely.”

However, based on his assessment of the campaign and his rapport with the people of Edo State, he is confident of victory.

Ighodalo urged Edo residents to come out and vote, assuring them that their safety would be prioritized during the election. He emphasized that the outcome would be decided solely by the people of Edo State.

Reflecting on a conversation with his daughter about the possibility of losing, Ighodalo said, “Honestly, if we lose this election and we know we lost it fairly and squarely, I will be the first to concede. But I know we cannot lose this election if the playing field is levelled.”

He expressed faith in his connection with the people, stating that they trust him and his party, and he believes that, on a fair playing field, victory is assured.
