In a surprising twist, the highly anticipated Hamster Kombat, which had been gaining momentum for months, has left many Nigerians frustrated and disappointed.

Users who had been eagerly tapping away in hopes of substantial financial rewards were left with meager payouts when the coin launched on Thursday.

After five months of dedication, many participants expected to see significant earnings, with some dreaming of becoming millionaires. However, the reality was far from the promise, as payouts ranged from as little as 1 to 4 dollars, with unconfirmed reports suggesting the highest earners made between 7 and 17 dollars.

Discontent quickly spread across social media, where users expressed their frustration. Some reported receiving payouts as low as ₦2.75, sparking widespread accusations of deception from Hamster Coin’s promoters. Once hopeful of striking it rich, the community now finds itself in dismay as what was marketed as a life-changing opportunity turned out to be a major letdown.

Launched in March 2024, Hamster Kombat finally hit the market on Thursday afternoon. Its official X account, #hamster_kombat, announced the long-awaited launch with the message:

“THE MOMENT IS HERE. $HMSTR trading has officially begun! Congratulations, and to the moon, CEOs. On-chain direct claim and balance withdrawal options are now open. You can transfer your tokens anywhere!”

However, despite the excitement surrounding the launch, the promised financial rewards fell flat. At the time of writing, Hamster Kombat was listed as $HMSTR on CoinMarketCap at number 114, with a value of $0.008315 and a market cap of $535.3 million.

Many users took to social media to share their frustration. One user, Geoffrey Nwankpa, joked, “You gave me dust after 4 months; I am hunting hamsters, rats, or anything that looks like a hamster.” Another user lamented, “I spent 5 good months farming Hamster Kombat only to be rewarded with this?”

The fallout from this disappointing launch has left many users feeling cheated, with what was supposed to be a lucrative opportunity now remembered for tears and frustration.
