In a devastating incident, over 35 Muslims traveling to Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna State, tragically lost their lives in a motor accident while heading to a Maulud celebration.

The fatal crash occurred when their chartered J5 bus collided head-on with another vehicle near Samunaka, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

According to Malam Abdullahi, one of the event organizers, the accident has cast a dark shadow over their celebration plans.

In addition to the lives lost, about 35 other passengers suffered injuries and were quickly transported to a medical facility in Plateau State for urgent treatment.

The tragedy was compounded when another vehicle in the same convoy collided with a motorbike, resulting in further casualties.

Several people were left injured in this secondary accident, adding to the grim toll of the day.

“I did a headcount, and there were about 70 people in total, including women and children. It was a tragic incident. The injured have been taken to JUTH in Jos for medical attention,” Abdullahi said.

As authorities have yet to release an official statement, the victims’ families and communities are left grieving while praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the need for road safety, especially during religious gatherings.
