The National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (NACHPN) has expressed deep sympathy for the victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State, which was triggered by heavy rainfall.

In a statement, NACHPN President, Comrade Kabir Yahya Ahmed, extended condolences to the government and residents of Borno, particularly those directly affected by the devastating flood.

While lamenting the loss of lives and damage to property, Kabir called on Community Health Practitioners in the emergency rapid response team and those in the health facilities within Borno State to ensure safety precautions, exercise their roles inline with the National Standing Orders and other recommended guidelines.

He also advised them to ensure prompt referrals where necessary to mitigate the effects of the disaster.

Comrade Kabir also called for urgent intervention from both the Federal and State Governments, as well as humanitarian organizations, to aid in the rescue and recovery efforts.

He commended the ongoing actions aimed at restoring normalcy and urged residents of Maiduguri to stay calm and observe environmental safety guidelines during this challenging time.

The NACHPN president also prayed for continued peace and stability in Borno State, as the community navigates the aftermath of the flood.
