In a troubling development, the Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended Isa Usman, a 35-year-old quack medical practitioner, in connection with the death of a patient in Keana Local Government Area.

Usman, a native of Gombe State, was detained in the Iyayi community after it was alleged that his medical practices led to the death of Zaki Yaka Ajohol.

Despite holding only a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Usman claimed to have received medical training at Asibitin Yusuf in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

However, his educational background, which is limited to primary school, raises serious concerns about his qualifications.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the command, Usman admitted to administering procaine injections to Ajohol over a three-day period, ostensibly to treat typhoid.

On the fourth day, Usman administered another dose, after which the patient lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to the primary health care center at Akeleku. Unfortunately, the patient was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Authorities have seized various drugs and medical equipment from Usman as evidence.

Commissioner of Police Umar Shehu Nadada has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation and prosecution.
