On Monday, the Nigerian Presidency strongly refuted circulating rumors of a rift between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
In an official statement, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, dismissed these claims as baseless and described them as “illogical conspiracy theories.”
Nkwocha emphasized that Vice President Shettima remains a crucial and trusted member of President Tinubu’s administration, highlighting their strong working relationship.
He underscored Shettima’s unwavering loyalty and dedication to the President, pointing out that Shettima’s actions have consistently demonstrated his commitment to Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.
The statement read:
“In a political landscape where loyalty is often tested, Vice President Shettima stands out as a beacon of dedication and commitment to his principal, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His unwavering support and teamwork demonstrate a refreshing shift towards harmonious collaboration, setting a positive tone for their administration.”
Nkwocha also praised Shettima for his genuine support of the President, describing Tinubu as a “good soul” and a leader in whom Nigerians can place their trust. He highlighted Shettima’s ability to connect with Nigerians from various backgrounds and his consistent efforts to promote the President’s initiatives.
Contrasting the current administration with past presidencies marked by public disagreements between vice presidents and their superiors, Nkwocha noted that Shettima’s approach represents a significant departure from the norm. He stated:
“Unlike previous presidencies which were mired in protracted public disagreements between vice presidents and their bosses, VP Shettima’s approach is a welcome change. He has proven himself to be a true partner to President Tinubu, working tirelessly to support his initiatives and vision for Nigeria.”
Nkwocha firmly rejected the rumors of Shettima being sidelined, asserting that these claims are the complete opposite of the reality within Aso Rock. He concluded by highlighting Shettima’s significant contributions to the administration, stating:
“As President Tinubu’s administration continues to take shape, there’s no gainsaying that one key player who has been making waves is Vice President Shettima. Since assuming office, Shettima has brought a unique blend of experience, expertise, and energy to the table in support of the Renewed Hope Administration.”
This statement aims to dispel any doubts about the cohesion within the Tinubu-Shettima administration, emphasizing their united front in driving Nigeria’s development agenda forward.
