A veteran Nigerian Nollywood actor, Chief Charles Olumo, popularly known as Agbako, has passed away at the age of 101.

Olumo, celebrated for his remarkable acting career and dynamic performances in Nollywood, was one of the oldest actors in the industry.

He died on Thursday, leaving behind a legacy cherished by fans and colleagues alike.

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), announced the passing of veteran actor through its president, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin.

In the statement, Mr. Latin confirmed that Agbako, a celebrated figure in the industry, passed away on Thursday, at the age of 101.

He said, “Announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024.”

Confirming his passing, Owolabi Ajasa stated that the eldest figure in the entertainment industry, Chief Charles Olumo, also known as Agbako, joined his ancestors in the early hours of today at the age of 101.

“Adieu, Baba Charles! Agbako, sun re o! Goodnight, Baba. May your soul rest in peace."

Kunle Afod wrote, “Good night pa Chalse Olumo (baba Agbako). The oldest actor. 101 years. Sun re oooO daboO di Oju Ala.”
