Parts of the residence of the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, were destroyed in a fire incident over the weekend in Gusau, the state capital.
While no casualties were reported, properties worth millions of Naira were lost.

In a statement by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Bello Madaro, the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, expressed deep shock on behalf of the Assembly and its staff, calling the event a tragic calamity.

He described the fire as an act of destiny and extended his sympathy to the Speaker, his family, and his constituents in Zurmi West.

Political figures and well-wishers have since visited the Speaker to offer their condolences.

The Speaker expressed gratitude that no lives were lost and thanked those who assisted in controlling the fire.
