A group, Patriotic Volunteers, has endorsed a former Commissioner, Ibrahim Gwarzo, as its candidate for the election of the next chairman of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group announced the decision while addressing a press conference at the NUJ press centre,Kano,on Wednesday.
“In the light of our party’s mission to promote unity, progress and democratic values, the Patriotic Volunteers after due consultations with members of the party, strongly endorsed a seasoned politician in the person of Ibrahim Dan’azumi Gwarzo for the party’s chairmanship in Kano State.
“Hon. Gwarzo is a four-time Commissioner in Kano State, a former CPC Kano State Chairman, a former Chairman Board of Directors Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) Lagos, a two-term Chairman Kano State Land Use and Allocation Committee (KNSLUAC), and owner of the 2022 Man of Integrity Award by Gani Fawehinmi Foundation, Lagos etc.,”it said.
The Volunteers who spoke through one of its leaders, Alhaji Usman Alhaji,who is also the immediate past Secretary to the State Government,then outlined their Mission and Vision for the APC under Gwarzo leadership,thus:
“To support and strengthen the APC at both the national, state and local government levels, ensuring that we remain a beacon of hope and progress for the people of Nigeria
“To lead in uniting and empowering the APC, fostering a future where our principles of integrity, development, and inclusivity guide us towards a united and prosperous Nigeria.”
To achieve the mission and realize the vision,the group said it had outlined a set of clear and focused objectives that would “serve as the foundation of our efforts, guiding our actions and strategies to ensure that we effectively address and uphold our principles and values.
These,it said, included upholding the core values and principles of the APC, ensuring that their actions and initiatives aligned with the party’s mission,
“Providing unwavering support to our leaders and candidates, working collaboratively to achieve our common goals, and engaging with the community to understand their needs and aspirations, and advocating for policies that address their concerns,” the group added.
