Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has credited President Bola Tinubu with protecting him from the “fury” of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

In an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Dokubo recounted how Tinubu’s support provided a lifeline during what he described as a time of being “buried alive” under Obasanjo’s administration.

Dokubo emphasized his deep-rooted connection with Tinubu, which dates back to Nigeria’s military era, highlighting the loyalty and trust that have defined their relationship over the years.

“My relationship with Tinubu was very robust,” he said, explaining that he initially benefited from this bond without being able to reciprocate—until Tinubu ran for the presidency.

“His coming out for the presidency was the only time I was able to pay him back,” Dokubo added, expressing unwavering loyalty to Tinubu for standing by him when he felt most isolated.

Dokubo emphasized that his support for Tinubu extends beyond personal loyalty, focusing on advocating for the well-being of his people.
