A suspected member of a notorious “One Chance” robbery gang was allegedly lynched near the NYSC junction along Abuja’s Kubwa expressway in the early hours of Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said that the suspect arrived in a Gulf car around 2 a.m. with two other individuals, having moved from the Dutsen-Alhaji junction along the same route.

Muhammad Sani, a member of the United Hunters Society of Nigeria in Kubwa, recounted that the two accomplices fled the scene after their vehicle collided with a road barrier.

Additionally, Sulaiman Yunusa, a security guard at a nearby filling station, stated that a stolen motorcycle, reportedly driven by one of the robbers, was found at the scene before a mob set their vehicle ablaze.

He highlighted that “One Chance” incidents have become increasingly common along this expressway, with some criminals targeting goods from trucks parked overnight.

When our reporter visited the location later in the morning, scavengers were seen dismantling the burnt-out vehicle.

The suspect’s body was reportedly transported to the Kubwa hospital morgue by police officers following notification of the incident.

However, attempts to reach the FCT Police Command’s spokeswoman, Superintendent Josephine Adeh, for comment were unsuccessful.
