The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that the disturbance experienced on the national grid on Thursday, November 7, 2024, was due to a sudden spike in frequency.

According to TCN, recovery efforts were swiftly initiated, with power being restored in some areas within 28 minutes of the incident.

TCN further explained that the frequency surge resulted from challenges faced at one of the substations.

The company also noted that the ongoing repair work on transmission lines along the Shiroro–Mando route, significant upgrades at the Jebba Transmission Substation, and the restoration of the second Ugwuaji–Apir transmission line could lead to some level of instability in the system until all major repairs are concluded.

TCN expressed regret over the disruptions and appealed to consumers for understanding and patience, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing the reliability of electricity supply.
