The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has named Kamoru Ogunlana as the new Clerk to the National Assembly.
The appointment follows the confirmed retirement of Mr. Sani Tambuwal, the outgoing Clerk.
In an official statement issued Wednesday evening by NASC Deputy Director Emmanuel Anyigor, the Commission announced that Ogunlana’s appointment will take effect from February 2, 2025. The announcement was confirmed in a letter signed by NASC Executive Chairman, Engr. Ahmed Amshi.
The letter noted that the decision was reached during the Commission’s 610th meeting, held on November 6, 2024. It commended Ogunlana’s commitment and administrative competence, urging him to work with diligence to meet the expectations of his new role.
Part of the letter read, “The National Assembly Service Commission, at its 610th meeting held on Wednesday, 6th November 2024, approved your appointment as Clerk to the National Assembly, effective from 2nd February 2025.”
In a separate letter also signed by NASC Chairman Amshi, the Commission acknowledged the significant service contributions of Tambuwal. As he prepares to retire, Ogunlana will assume interim responsibility, collaborating with Tambuwal to ensure a smooth transition leading up to his official start date.
Before this appointment, Ogunlana served as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, where he gained considerable experience within the legislative body’s administrative framework.
