The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has successfully neutralized more than 70 terrorists in airstrikes on November 6, targeting the Kwallaram and Arainna Ciki islands in Borno State.

This operation was confirmed in a statement from Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, on Saturday in Abuja.

According to Buba, over 70 extremists were eliminated in Kwallaram, with additional casualties inflicted on terrorist forces at Arainna Ciki.

The recent airstrikes are part of intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds across Nigeria. Ground operations in tandem with air assaults have helped dislodge insurgents from their enclaves, resulting in significant enemy losses.

Buba detailed that recent operations led to the neutralization of 169 terrorists, the arrest of 641 others, as well as 40 individuals involved in oil theft. Additionally, 181 kidnapped hostages were successfully rescued.

Troops also seized an array of weapons, including 192 firearms and nearly 3,000 rounds of ammunition, among them 106 AK-47 rifles, 38 fabricated rifles, 26 dane guns, one FN rifle, three handmade revolver pistols, and 11 locally crafted pistols. Additional items included five pump-action guns, a mock AK-47 rifle, an unexploded RPG bomb, and various rounds of 7.62mm special and NATO ammunition.

In the Niger Delta region, operations have targeted illegal crude oil refining. Troops destroyed 20 crude oil ovens, two dugout pits, 42 boats, seven reservoirs, five drums, 50 storage tanks, and 83 illegal refining sites, recovering over 914,000 liters of stolen crude oil, 537,000 liters of illegally refined diesel, and 1,285 liters of gasoline.

“Troops operations have severely impacted terrorist forces, driving groups like ISWAP to desperate recruitment efforts on social media,” Buba noted. “The military will continue its offensive to eliminate all threats.”
