New Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has opened up about his decision to take charge at Old Trafford, revealing that it was a deep connection with the club that motivated his move.
The 39-year-old former Portugal international, who left his managerial position at Sporting CP to join United, expressed that Manchester United’s rich history played a significant role in his decision.
Amorim emphasized his desire to help the club return to its peak performance and restore its glory.
In an interview with United’s official website, Amorim stated that forming a strong bond with the people at the club was crucial for him. His focus now is to work towards bringing the team back to its best, harnessing both the club’s legacy and his own managerial experience.
“First of all, I think I felt a connection with the club. And when I say with the club, everybody knows Man United,” the Portuguese said.
“But I feel the connection with the people in the club and that is very important for me because I want to work with people that I like and I feel a connection.
The second point is the history of this club. All the people are hungry for success and I feel that this is the place that I want to be also because of that, because you can be part of something special, not just one more. And that is something that I really like.
“But when you see the games here, when you see the games, the interaction with the managers, with the players, even in difficult moments, I think it is a special club,” he added.
