Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has approved the request by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arraign Senator Andy Uba, a former lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District, on a two-count charge of alleged ₦400 million fraud.
The arraignment is scheduled for February 18, 2025, following allegations that Uba defrauded George Uboh, whose petition to the police led to the charges.
The suit also names Crystal Chidinma Uba and Benjamin Etu as co-defendants, alongside a fourth suspect, Hajiya Fatima, who remains at large.
The charges allege that the defendants conspired in 2022 to defraud the complainant by falsely claiming they could secure the position of Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for anyone willing to pay ₦400 million.
The police assert that the defendants knew their claims were false, constituting an offence under Section 8, punishable by Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
