In a significant development that has stirred widespread shock, Australian actress Scarlet Vas, best known for her role as Mishti Sharma on Neighbours, has revealed she is expecting her first child with her husband, Tayo Ricci — who also happens to be her stepbrother.

The couple, who tied the knot last September on the Greek island of Mykonos, recently shared their pregnancy news through a heartfelt Instagram video.

The post included footage of their positive pregnancy test and ultrasound scans capturing their baby’s heartbeat.

Scarlet and Tayo’s unique love story began in Melbourne, where they met as teenagers before their parents’ relationship brought them together as step-siblings.

Speaking to news.com.au, Scarlet addressed the public reaction to their relationship, saying, “Despite some backlash, it doesn’t affect us. I don’t really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh. We find trolls very entertaining.”

She added, “If something’s really negative, we might comment back. We find it’s quite a good disarming tactic.”

In a resurfaced 2023 clip from the UNCENSORED with Mario Adrion podcast, the couple discussed their OnlyFans content, with Tayo admitting he had once fantasized about step-sibling dynamics. “I’m not gonna lie, when I was young, I fantasized about it. Yeah, it just felt so wrong until it felt right,” he shared.

Scarlet clarified their relationship, emphasizing, “We’re not blood, though. So it’s fine, like, that would be weird. That’d be weird. It just happens to be.”

When asked about setting boundaries with family and whether their content ventures into explicit territory, Tayo said, “To the standard that people would expect? No. Honestly, no. People assume, ‘Oh, they’re doing porn. Like, yeah, how are you making that much money?’ We’re not.”

Scarlet added with a playful tone, “But you have to subscribe to find out,” while Tayo teased, “Yeah, exactly. We peak some curiosity, there’s some cheeky stuff.”

The couple’s announcement has drawn mixed reactions, but Scarlet remains unfazed, saying, “It doesn’t bother us. We’re happy, and that’s all that matters.”
