A road accident on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Monday left four people with serious injuries after a Toyota Coaster bus collided with a stationary Lagos State BRT bus.

The accident occurred as the Coaster bus attempted to overtake another vehicle while heading toward Iyana Oworo. Unfortunately, the driver lost control and rammed into the parked BRT bus, causing significant damage and injuries.

Emergency responders promptly attended to the injured individuals, identified as two males and two females, ensuring they received immediate medical attention.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident. He noted that the agency received a distress call at approximately 5:25 p.m., prompting a swift response from the rescue team.

“Following distress calls received via the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency Lines at 1725hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated it’s Emergency Response Team from the Command and Control Centre, Alausa, Ikeja,” Oke-Osanyintolu said in a statement.

“On arrival at 1735 to the incident scene, LRT discovered that a white Toyota Coaster bus, Registration Number KJA-380-XV collided with a parked Lagos State BRT, Registration Number AGL938-YD while on motion resulting in significant damage and injuries.”

He confirmed that no fatalities were recorded in the incident.

The injured victims received first aid from LASEMA paramedics and LASAMBUS before being transported to nearby government hospitals for further treatment.
