President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented the 2025 budget proposal, amounting to N47.9 trillion, during a joint session of the National Assembly held at the House of Representatives chamber on Wednesday.

The budget, which has been dubbed “The Restoration Budget,” is a significant part of the administration’s fiscal plans for the coming year.

In the weeks leading up to the presentation, both chambers of the National Assembly approved the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), outlining a total spending of N47.9 trillion.

The plan also includes a new borrowing strategy of N9.22 trillion, covering both domestic and foreign loans.

In his speech, President Tinubu emphasized that the 2025 appropriation is designed to address key national priorities such as economic growth, human capital development, poverty reduction, and the fight against insecurity.

He noted that the budget would also focus on ensuring macroeconomic stability, promoting economic resilience, and advancing human capital development—critical areas for Nigeria’s future prosperity.

The President further stressed that the budget was essential for securing the nation’s long-term ambitions and for building a stronger, more sustainable Nigeria.
